The Friday Project Acquires Shocking And Controversial Police Memoir

Posted at 7:05AM Tuesday 16 Oct 2007

The Friday Project is proud to announce the forthcoming publication of A Fair Cop, the true story of Leeds Police Officer Michael Bunting's imprisonment following a strongly contested charge of common assault.

PC Michael Bunting was 23 when he was attacked and injured on an August night in 1997. Two years later he found himself defending a barely believable charge of common assault at Leeds Crown Court. He was found guilty and received a prison sentence that left him living his devastated life amongst the criminals he had previously sought to keep off the streets. Hard-hitting and at times heart-breaking the book gives graphic accounts of life behind bars for a policeman in one of England's hardest prisons.

Clare Christian, MD and Publishing Director at The Friday Project said, "by the time I had read the first ten pages of Michael's manuscript I knew we should publish it. It is unbelievable that such a miscarriage of justice should have occurred and I hope that publishing Michael's story goes some way to setting the record straight".

There has already been considerable press interest in A Fair Cop and TV and Film rights are under consideration. Interested parties should contact Clare Christian at clare@thefridayproject.co.uk

A Fair Cop will be published in May 2008.
