Consumer Survey Shows Opportunities For Booksellers

At the Fifth Annual ABA Winter Institute, publishing veteran Jack McKeown, who is director of business development for Verso Advertising and president of Conemarra Partners, reprised a presentation from last week's Digital Book World, adding some data as well as observations on the Amazon-Macmillan battle, or as he called it, "the Friday night massacre." He focused on the results of a Verso survey of readers, which suggested that some of the more extreme predictions of an e-only book future are, well, extreme and which pointed to "all kinds of opportunities" for indies.
