Sir, . . .Surely it is time that universities started charging publishers for staff time. If this leads to increased subscription rates, they should open up the discussion that publishers are desperate to avoid – whether the existing model for academic discourse is not increasingly irrelevant and unnecessarily expensive in the internet age.
