She is also a board member for the non-profit publisher, No Voice Unheard and is a contributing writer and photographer for their book Ninety-Five: Meeting America's Farmed Animals in Stories and Photographs. She's been involved with small and independent publishers since 1994 and is actively involved in the "zine" community.

Mr. Carlisle has been Senior Editor at HarperOne, West Coast Senior Editor at The Crossroad Publishing Company, Co-Owner and Editorial Director at Circulus Publishing Group, and General Manager of the Fuller Seminary Bookstore. He has also been a Founding Board Member and former Chairman of the Board at New College Berkeley and Founder and former Executive Director of the Academy of Christian Editors. He received his B.A. in philosophy from Whitman College and M.A. in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary.

As poet, publisher, editor and educator, Haki R. Madhubuti has published more than 28 books and is one of the world's best-selling authors of poetry and non-fiction. Professor Madhubuti founded Third World Press in 1967. He is also a founder of the Institute of Positive Education/New Concept School (1969), and a cofounder of Betty Shabazz International Charter School (1998), Barbara A. His distinguished teaching career includes positions at Columbia College of Chicago, Cornell University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Howard University, Morgan State University, the University of Iowa and Chicago State University. Currently, Madhubuti is the incoming Ida B. Wells Barnett University Professor at DePaul University for the academic year 2010-2011.

John Mutter is editor-in-chief of Shelf Awareness, the daily e-mail newsletter for booksellers, librarians and others who want to stay informed about current books, trends, authors, publishing news and more. Before founding Shelf Awareness five years ago with Jenn Risko, he worked at Publishers Weekly for more than 20 years. He started PW Daily for Booksellers and for a decade was responsible for the Magazine's coverage of book wholesaling, distribution and retailing.

Robert Rosenwald graduated from St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM in 1969. He helped his wife, Barbara Peters, found The Poisoned Pen, A Mystery Bookstore... and more in 1989. Jointly they started Poisoned Pen Press—Publishing Excellence in Mystery in 1997 in order to combat problems caused by consolidation within mainstream publishing including the loss of backlist titles and the shrinking number of midlist authors. Poisoned Pen Press now has a backlist of over 800 titles, and currently publishes approximately thirty-six new titles annually.

Founded in 1983, the Independent Book Publishers Association <http://www.ibpa-online.org> (IBPA) is the largest not-for-profit trade organization for publishers in the United States, serving more than 3000 book publishers of all sizes. IBPA's mission is to help independent publishers market their titles, to provide education on all aspects of publishing, and to act as an advocate for publishers' rights.
