Harvill Acquire New David Lodge Novel. Vintage to publish backlist.

Posted at 3:31PM Wednesday 22 Sep 2010

Harvill Secker and Vintage are pleased to announce the acquisition of David Lodge's A Man of Parts, a moving, funny and masterful novel about the life of H.G. Wells – writer, thinker, lover and man of genius – for publication in April 2011 and that from May 2011 David Lodge's backlist will be published in paperback by Vintage. British Commonwealth rights were acquired from Jonny Geller of Curtis Brown.

Geoff Mulligan said 'It is a great pleasure to be working on another novel by David. Wells emerges from this as a brilliant, complex and fascinating man, who was central to the great intellectual debates of his day and became perhaps the most famous writer in the world'.

Liz Foley, Harvill Secker Publishing Director, said, 'We're all absolutely delighted to be publishing A Man of Parts. It's an exceptional piece of work from a true master and vividly brings to life both the man and the age'.

Rachel Cugnoni, Publishing Director of Vintage said, 'David Lodge is one of England's finest and most celebrated writers. It is an enormous privilege to add him to the Vintage list.'
