Indigo is delighted to announce the acquisition of BACK TO BLACKBRICK, the debut novel by Sarah Moore Fitzgerald. Managing Director and Publisher, Fiona Kennedy acquired World Rights in a two-book deal from Jo Unwin at Conville and Walsh.BACK TO BLACKBRICK is a beautifully written debut about lost memories, lost times and lost lives. Heartbreaking and heartfelt, Fitzgerald captures the fragile nature of memory and identity and how they make a difference to all our lives. BACK TO BLACKBRICK is set for publication in spring 2013. Sarah Moore Fitzgerald is a professor and associate vice president at the University of Limerick in Ireland, specialising in psychology and effective pedagogy in higher education, and has published several non-fiction books on teaching, learning and academic writing. Sarah runs regular writers' retreats for academics and students in Ireland and internationally. Sarah says: ''Being published by Orion/Indigo is honestly a dream come true. To have found my debut novel, Back to Blackbrick, belonging to the same stable as those of the gripping Marcus Sedgwick, the heartbreaking Annabel Pitcher, the terrific Holly Black, is so incredibly exciting that it's difficult to describe. It's a real privilege to be part of the extraordinarily diverse and dynamic Orion/Indigo label.' Fiona Kennedy says of the acquisition: 'Sarah Moore Fitzgerald is an extraordinarily good writer. In all my years in publishing she is one of the authors whose work I feel most fortunate, privileged and excited to be able to publish. We're all looking forward to a sensational launch for Back to Blackbrick. It's a novel that will make a huge impact on everyone who reads it.' Jo Unwin says of the acquisition: 'When I first read this book it reminded me of Tom's Midnight Garden as written by Roddy Doyle. Finding an editor who's as passionate about this book as I am has been one of the greatest delights of my career so far.'
