News Corp publishing unit including HarperCollins 1q earnings down 48%

News Corp said its publishing unit, which included its Australian and UK newspapers and book publisher HarperCollins, reported first-quarter earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of $US57 million ($A55.26 million), down 48 per cent from the prior corresponding period.
