Press Release: Deals Done
New Two Book World Rights Deal For Award Winning Writer Chris Beckett

Posted at 4:01PM Thursday 06 Dec 2012

Ravi Mirchandani, Editor-in-Chief of Grove Atlantic in London, has acquired world rights in two novels by award-winning UK writer Chris Beckett, for the Corvus imprint. The deal was concluded with agent John Jarrold.

Corvus have previously published THE HOLY MACHINE and DARK EDEN by Beckett. The first new book will be a sequel to the latter, GELA'S RING, to be published in 2014. The second book is provisionally titled SLAYMAKER.

DARK EDEN was announced as the Sunday Times SF Book of the Year last month and has garnered wonderful reviews.

Beckett also won the prestigious Edge Hill Story Award in 2009 for his SF collection THE TURING TEST, published by small press Elastic, beating off literary collections by Booker Prize-winner Anne Enright, Whitbread winner Ali Smith and other literary lions.

Ravi Mirchandani said: 'In every genre, there are some exceptional writers who write within the genre and yet beyond it, appealing to the widest range of readers. What Ruth Rendell is in crime, Terry Pratchett in fantasy or Patrick O'Brian in historical sea fiction, William Gibson, Neal Stephenson and China Miéville are in Science Fiction. So is Chris Beckett.'

Contact John Jarrold for further details.
