Sales Slump At Foyles But Internet Softens Blow

The independent bookseller said sales at its five shops – including the flagship on London's Charing Cross Road – were down 3.7% in the 24 days to Christmas Eve, but the inclusion of website orders meant an overall fall of only 2%. Chief executive Sam Husain said this was "a satisfactory outcome" given the economic backdrop.
