Bestselling Author Michael Haag To Decode Dan Brown's Inferno For Profile

Profile are thrilled to announce that they have commissioned Michael Haag (author of the 150,000-selling Rough Guide to The Da Vinci Code) to write a book on the background and issues of Dan Brown's new novel, Inferno.
Haag's book, Inferno Decoded, will be published in June 2013, just four weeks after the publication of Brown's book, which is likely to be the year's top seller.
In his bestselling guide to The Da Vinci Code Haag explained all the issues raised in Dan Brown's original bestseller – the bloodline of Christ, the legends of the Holy Grail and the role of the Opus Dei. He will do the same for Brown's new book, which takes inspiration from the life and work of Dante Alighieri.
Haag's book will include an overview of Dante and his work along with the other themes of Brown's thriller, a guide to its sources and Tuscan locations, and a look back at the issues raised in the earlier career of Brown's symbologist-hero Robert Langdon.
Profile have previously published two books by Michael Haag, The Templars: History and Myth and The Tragedy of the Templars.
Mark Ellingham, commissioning editor for Profile, commented: "Publishing Michael Haag's Da Vinci book was one of my most enjoyable projects at Rough Guides – he wrote a brilliant account in a matter of weeks and it literally flew off the shelves. Even better, though – a lot of people felt Michael's accounts of the Templars, Mary Magdalene and Opus Dei made for a more interesting read than the Dan Brown thriller! I'm sure he will repeat the trick with Dan's Dante."
Author Michael Haag said: "Robert Langdon's harrowing quest through Dante's underworld promises to be an exciting adventure of discovery. Florence makes a terrific setting. This is the place and Dante is the moment when the Renaissance begins. I am excited to be close on the heels of Robert Langdon again and working with Profile Books on decoding the associations, the historical characters and the symbols in Dan Brown's new thriller."
Inferno Decoded will be published by Profile in June 2013 as a £7.99 B format paperback.
