As great as your idea to start a press may sound to your friends, and as supportive as they might be, it will ultimately come down to you to make it happen. Yes, friends are great for brainstorming, and you should collaborate with them. However, they have their own lives and when it comes to the bullshit of making things happen it has to be you slogging through it.
