Walker Books To Partner With Gail's Artisan Bakery

Posted at 9:56PM Tuesday 03 Jun 2014

Independent children's publisher Walker Books is to partner with London based Gail's Artisan Bakery for a range of storytelling sessions.

The sessions will take place monthly in Gail's bakeries across London, providing a programme of storytime events for children, using a different Walker picture book each time.

It is a celebration of all things independent, with local, independent bookshops supplying books for the events as a way to encourage communities to visit their indie bookshops and businesses.

The partnership will launch on Wednesday 11th June at 10am at the Crouch End branch, with Petr Horáček's latest picture book, The Mouse Who Ate the Moon as the focus for the first event.

Pickled Pepper Books are the independent bookshop on board and children's storyteller Vanessa Woolf will deliver the session.

Jill Kidson, Consumer Marketing Manager at Walker Books:

"We're thrilled to be partnering with Gail's Artisan Bakery on a programme of Walker Books storytime events for parents and their pre-schoolers. We're continually looking for fresh and fun ways to share the love of books and reading, and what could be better than the combination of bread and books!"

Romy Miller, Head of Marketing at Gail's:

"Warm cookies and milk to go with a great story is something we're excited to offer in our bakeries in partnership with Walker Books. We hope the readings will make happy times for kids and their parents, we've designed them to be entertaining and fun."
