Appeal By Birmingham Author Catherine O'flynn

Posted at 7:30PM Thursday 27 Mar 2008

Catherine O'Flynn's debut novel What Was Lost has proved a phenomenal success since it was first published just over a year ago.

Now the book has been short-listed for Waterstone's Newcomer of the Year in the Galaxy British Book Awards which, unlike the previous awards, is voted for by the public.

Catherine, aged 37, of Hall Green, said: "I'm delighted the book's been nominated for this award and it's great that it's a public vote. I'm proud of being a Brummie and much of the book is based on Birmingham, so it would be a huge honour if the people of this city take the time to vote for me."
