A Judy Finnigan-style cleavage catastrophe must be high on the list of every woman's sartorial nightmares, but, if it had to happen to anyone, then I'm glad it was to J K Rowling.

There she was, in all her Gucci elegance, gracing the front page of The Daily Telegraph, at a London literary event last week. A few hours later and a desperate aide was trying to protect her from intrusive snappers after the stunning purple gown proved itself less supportive than expected.
