London, 28 August 2008: Egmont UK today announced the forthcoming re-launch of Egmont.co.uk, set for 15 September 2008. The newly designed and digitally interactive website will raise brand awareness for the company and drive sales of Egmont's print products. The website will provide users with a wide range of rich content that is both safe and informative.

Egmont.co.uk has been redeveloped to further engage with Egmont's audiences and will include quick and easy search tools for navigating and locating content. It will also incorporate innovative Web 2.0 features aimed at both parents and children. For parents and guardians, the website will provide purchasing information, downloadable material for children and the comfort of a monitored website. For kids, Egmont's website will be a portal of interactivity with games and media content.

Using digitally interactive media, Egmont.co.uk will offer audio-sampling and opportunities for social bookmarking, which will allow users to share and save links across the Internet on popular social networking sites like Facebook and Digg. Additionally, the website will provide opportunities for User Generated Content (UGC) through book ratings and reviews.

Unique to Egmont.co.uk's Web 2.0 characteristics is an Author's Page through which authors and illustrators will be encouraged to engage with fans and Egmont readers. Specifically, the innovative Author's Page will provide opportunities for authors to create blogs, poll readers and reply to questions asked by fans. Authors taking part in this online activity include Jenny Nimmo, Andy Stanton, Julia Golding, Lydia Monks, Jim Helmore, and many more well-known authors from Egmont's portfolio.

Jo De Lange, Digital Director at Egmont, said: "Egmont.co.uk will be a vibrant and interactive way for us to engage with our highly valued consumers – both parents and children. We are proud to offer digital features that we believe will enhance our brand, our authors and provide an essential service to drive sales further."
