The Independent Publishing Awards 2010 — Shortlists AnnouncedPosted at 8:04PM Monday 08 Mar 2010 The IPG has announced the shortlists for the 2010 Independent Publishing Awards, run with The Bookseller and London Book Fair.
A total of 22 companies and three individuals feature on the ten award shortlists, selected by a panel of industry experts and spanning the full spectrum of independent publishing in the UK. The most nominated companies are Earthscan, with four shortlist places, and Search Press, with three. Accent Press and Top That! Publishing have two nominations apiece.
The ten shortlists are:
Trade Publisher of the Year: Constable &Robinson, Gallic Books, John Blake Publishing and Summersdale
Children's Publisher of the Year: The Salariya Book Company, Top That! Publishing and Walker Books
Lightning Source Academic & Professional Publisher of the Year: Earthscan and Hart Publishing
Education Publisher of the Year: Bright Red Publishing, English and Media Centre Publishing and Galore Park
Specialist Consumer Publisher of the Year: Hay House, Osprey Publishing, Punk Publishing and Search Press
Nielsen Innovation of the Year: Accent Press, Earthscan and Search Press
International Achievement of the Year: Carlton Publishing Group, Earthscan and Search Press
Diversity Award: Radcliffe Publishing, Royal College of Psychiatrists and Trentham Books
Digital Award: Accent Press, Earthscan, Jolly Learning and Top That! Publishing
GBS Services to Independent Publishers Award: Adrian Driscoll, John Hampson and David Segrue
Two more categories complete the list of a dozen Independent Publishing Awards for 2010: the Environmental Award, for which there is no shortlist this year; and the flagship Independent Publisher of the Year Award, for which the winners of the Trade, Children's, Academic & Professional, Education and Specialist Consumer Publisher of the Year categories will make up a shortlist. All twelve winners will be announced at a special Gala Dinner during the IPG's Annual Conference on Saturday 20th March 2010 at Beaumont House in Old Windsor.
